Gender
Hey everyone! This week has been so great and I'm so excited to share some really fun insights I've learned on gender, and how important it is for families and family systems. Gender helps us identify who we are.
There is a quote given by a leader in my church that states:
"In His grand design, when God first created man, He created duality of the sexes. The ennobling expression of that duality is found in marriage. One individual is complementary to the other. As Paul stated, 'Neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord' (1 Corinthians 11:11). There is no other arrangement that meets the divine purposes of the Almighty. Man and woman are His creations. Their duality is His design. Their complementary relationships and functions are fundamental to His purposes. One is incomplete without the other."
- President Gordon B. Hinckley
Both sexes are essential to the system of the family, and both are equally important. Both sexes have natural tendencies which help them fulfill their roles in the family. For example, females are usually more nurturing which helps women fulfill the role of motherhood. Men usually have the tendency to be more protective which helps them as protectors of the home and family. Both male and female roles are different, but because they are different they balance each other out. Having balance in a family system creates harmony and unity in the home.
There are different problems that the families and people are facing. People are confused about who they are as a gender. I believe that there are two genders, and we were that gender before we came to this earth. I personally believe this, but I want to share some different studies about gender, and how it shows not a religious standpoint put a research standpoint. I hope that you're able to learn from these studies and start learning more about how important gender is.
I think sometimes we put people into categories because they don't fit in as the stereotypical "boy" or "girl". Or sometimes we even assume they are gay because they don't act like the stereotypical gender. This could mess with that person's head, and make them actually think that they are gay or lesbian. It's ok if people are different. We don't have to assume they are something or put a label on them.
Those are just a few thoughts I've been having on gender recently.
