Heavenly Father and Parenting

Hello, everyone, this week has been awesome, and I hope it's been a great week for everyone. This week I want to discuss some different things that have been on my mind and mean a lot to me. I'm going to talk about some important principles I've been finally understanding and would like to share my thoughts with you.

Our greatest example as a parent is God. He loves us and we are all His children. God is not some deity that is far away, He is a parent. This really struck me. It is a simple truth that I have been taught all my life, but I never really understood what that meant. He is my Father. He is perfect and has given us so many tools on how to become great parents.

One of the greatest tool He has given us is the scriptures. Heavenly Father has given us true doctrine on what He has done to parent and guide. The scriptures are the ultimate study guide to parenting. He gives us wonderful doctrine, principles, and applications that we can learn from. This is so amazing!

Another great tool we have been given, and in my opinion is the most important, is the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost affirms truth to us. It empowers us with pure knowledge and complete truth. When we turn to our Heavenly Father through prayer He answers us with affirmations through the Spirit. What a wonderful gift. When we're struggling with decisions on parenting or anything in our lives, we have a Heavenly Father who loves us. What a special thing, to have a Heavenly Father who wants us to succeed and turn to Him.

Teaching and correcting our children should happen when the spirit is with us. When we're teaching and correcting from the spirit we know what we're saying is coming from heaven. I do believe that the most important principle and doctrine we should teach our children is that we have a loving Heavenly Father and that in His eyes no matter what we do our worth never changes. No matter what we do and the mistakes we make can be completely forgiven through the Atonement. The Atonement covers everything, and it is a gift for us to use.

Sorry, this blog was more personal then the others I have been posting, but I felt strongly to talk about this topic and my beliefs concerning parenting.

Hope you guys have a fabulous weekend!  Let me know your thoughts and your own beliefs on how Heavenly Father parents, and parenting in general.

Love you all!!
